About the Position
Cobalt is looking for a Director of Sales to shape our sales team as we continue to grow and expand our reach into existing and new markets. The Cobalt Director of Sales will lead Cobalt’s business development and sales efforts related to Cobalt's products and services focused exclusively on new customer acquisitions. In addition to this, the director is responsible for managing the Sales department and providing oversight and guidance to department staff. This position reports to Cobalt’s president.

This is a full-time hybrid remote position that requires that candidates work onsite at our headquarters in Crystal City (Arlington), Virginia, for an average of 2 days per week in order to help encourage teamwork and collaboration. Cobalt requires all of its employees to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus; if hired, candidates would be required to provide proof of vaccination.


Primary Duties
Drive Sales Growth
  • Own and drive new revenue growth for Cobalt’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions and service offerings
  • Continue to grow the sales team to meet our aggressive plans for growth over the next 3-5 years
  • Plan and execute sales strategies to reach quarterly and annual sales goals
Sales Team Management
  • Coach and support the sales team throughout the sales cycle (from prospecting to close)
  • Leverage CRM tools to manage the sales pipeline, ensure a high standard of forecast accuracy within the team and provide accurate monthly sales forecasts to the management team
  • Monitor individual sales team member pipeline development and forecast accuracy
  • Lead weekly team meetings and pipeline reviews
  • Manage and schedule resource requirements from other departments to support sales efforts
Business Planning & Reporting
  • Work with Cobalt’s executive team and department directors on strategic planning and executing on the vision and mission of the sales department
  • Collaborate with Cobalt’s president to develop the department’s annual budget, hiring plan, and compensation structure for sales team members.
  • Identify and monitor progress against KPIs
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of Cobalt’s CRM to ensure that the data is accurate and up to date
  • Create monthly and quarterly sales reports for the management team

The annual salary for the Director of Sales position is $200,000 with on target earnings of $280,000.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of proven sales experience including a track record of over-achieving quota
  • 3+ years managing a sales team with at least five direct reports
  • Experience recruiting and training new employees
  • Significant experience interfacing with client executives
  • Executive level meeting presence and communication skills
  • Outstanding operational excellence including monthly/quarterly forecasting, CRM entry/hygiene, and opportunity management
  • Executive level meeting presence and communication skills
  • Reliable, self-motivated, ability to multitask, approachable and fair
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Passion and drive to “GSD”

Desired Qualifications
  • MBA or Other Master’s Degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM
  • Exposure to the association management and/or the certification/credentialing software markets
