About the Position
Cobalt is looking for an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to join our team. As the Windows Systems Administrator, you would be responsible for various tasks, including setting up server environments, deploying updates, monitoring production site uptime, reporting, and troubleshooting. We are looking for a dedicated and dependable candidate, someone we can trust to be accountable for on-premises hosting infrastructure and security, identity and user access management, disaster recovery, and vendor relationship management. Our infrastructure supports a highly collaborative team and product, focused on creating and maintaining sustainable service and valuable features. This position will enjoy opportunities to learn exciting technologies and participate in architecture and projects. You will be set up for success with a career plan that will include specialization in Microsoft Azure, DevOps, orchestration, and systems architecture. This opening is a full-time position based at our headquarters in Crystal City (Arlington), Virginia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cobalt currently has a temporary telework policy in place for those who would prefer to work remotely at this time.

Primary Duties
  • Physical and Virtual Server Management using Hyper-V
  • Windows Server Configuration and Management (Windows Updates, Windows Firewall Management, IIS configuration, and IP assignment and management)
  • Identity and User Access Management (using Active Directory, ADFS, automated password update management, and SSL)
  • Application Hosting Configuration and Monitoring (Load balancing, DNS management, network switch configuration, and uptime monitoring)
  • Dynamics 365 On-Premises and Online Installation, Configuration, and Deployment (including setup of Cobalt products in conjunction with Dynamics 365)
  • SQL Server Management (including backup and recovery, installation)
  • Security Management (firewall configuration, security event monitoring, and penetration testing coordination with vendors)
  • Documentation Management (maintaining up to date and accurate documentation on infrastructure setup)
  • Assist with non-position-specific tasks (training new employees, etc.)
  • Promote Cobalt at industry events

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-4 years of Windows management experience
  • At least three years of experience with:
    • Virtual Windows server management (including use of PowerShell)
    • Infrastructure documentation (network diagrams, checklists, how-to documents, incident reports, etc.)
    • Active Directory management
    • DNS management
    • Server uptime monitoring and patching
    • Disaster recovery
  • A desire to learn new technologies, with an opportunity to learn Azure
  • Fluency in English (written and oral)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Organizational and task management skills
  • Great personality (patient, upbeat, friendly, and professional)

Desired Qualifications
  • MCSA or equivalent certification in server administration
  • Experience with installing and configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 (on-premises)
  • Experience with installing and configuring Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with configuring network firewalls
  • Experience presenting technical content in-person
